$922.80 - $2,076.20 per fortnight

$24,075 - $54,166 per annum

Duties/Abilities

Be trained, skilled and mentored to conduct repairs and maintenance on QPS vessels and associated equipment.

Special Conditions

This is a four-year apprenticeship term.  At the completion of the apprenticeship program the employee will be released from the position with a trade qualification. 

Mandatory Requirements

Possession of a current Queensland driver’s license Class C or equivalent license.

Your Key Accountabilities will include:

- Complete required training and course material to carry out service and mechanical repairs to various marine petrol outboard engines including Mercury, Suzuki and Yamaha, and various small petrol generators.

- Obtain skills and knowledge to diagnose faults, including mechanical, electrical, on marine engines and ancillary equipment through competency in the use of electronic diagnostic equipment and conduct of sea trials.

- Competently perform removal and installation of outboard engines and works involved in the maintaining and servicing of large horsepower vessels and the fit out of ancillary systems specific to police vessels.

- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on vessels including electronics, plumbing and fuel systems.

- Perform tasks involving the use of computers including word processing, updating parts inventories and stock supply registers, job sheets and computer databases.

- Attend all scheduled technical education classes and training programs internally and externally in pursuit of the successful completion of trade qualifications applicable to the role of Marine Mechanic (Outboard Engines).
