Description

Fremantle Sailing Club is seeking a Boatyard Manager with a minimum of 5 years boatyard experience or a role in a similar industry to manage the works area at the club. A motivated manager who shows leadership, excellent time and team management and exceptional customer service will be highly regarded for this position. The goal is to be the best boat lifting yard in Australia judged by service, safety, and plant maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prime Functions:

• Manage the works area to maximize occupancy and achieve budget forecast.
• Manage compliance of Work Health Safety and Emergency Management. 
• Oversee all vessels within the works area.
• Ensure all staff members are adequately trained and ensure that service to customers is of a high standard.
• Manage and coordinate maintenance of the works area, including all buildings, plant, jetties, grounds, and facilities within the approved budget.
• Manage daily operational planning and coordinate lift and yard movements.
• Manage staff performance and conduct regular staff reviews against KPI’s and training plans.
• Be a team player.
• Oversee the Environmental Management Plan and waste disposal in the works area.
• Undertake fee evaluation and in cooperation with administration implement incentives for members and contractors to ensure that Fremantle Sailing Club’s works area is positioned as the yard of choice in Perth.
• Manage the communications with members and non-members in regard to bookings, safety, fees, and payment.
• Uphold confidentiality, discretion and integrity at all times.

Requirements

 You will be required to work on the yard from time to time which will include:

• Operating the 50 and 75 tonne straddle carriers, forklift and Franna.
• Liaising with boat owners or their representative regarding any specific requirements for the lifting and propping of their boats. 
• Action the movement of boats out of and into the water, and movement to and from work bays and their safe propping and stowage.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EXPECTATIONS 

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have: -

• Strong knowledge of boating and the marine industry
• High-Risk Ticket
• CN/CV Crane ticket
• Certified MIA straddle carrier accreditation is desired.
• Excellent attention to detail and be willing to learn new things
• Excellent communication and service standards

 This role is a full-time position with hours typically Monday to Friday. Some weekend and after hour work may be required. If successful in this role a full Drug Test and Police Clearance is required.
