We believe the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron is Australia’s premier yacht club. We are a private members’ club, proud of our history and excited about a vibrant, dynamic future. Located in Kirribilli, near Milsons Point train station, we are seeking a hands-on, Boat Yard professional to assist in the leadership and management of our Waterfront team.

About the role

As the Assistant Waterfront Manager, you'll play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our busy Boat Yard and Waterfront services. Reporting to the Waterfront Manager, you'll be responsible for scheduling boat maintenance/repair work, managing resources, generating quotes, responding to member queries, and ensuring the highest safety standards are met and maintained. This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same.

Requirements

Key responsibilities

·       Lead the successful daily operation of the Boat Yard and Waterfront Services.

·       Maximise efficiency by ensuring cradles are occupied to capacity, driving strong financial returns for the Squadron.

·       Assign duties, provide hands-on support, and manage workload distribution to meet tight deadlines.

·       Interact with members to provide quotes and keep them informed on the progress of their boat repairs.

·       Maintain quality control standards and manage the maintenance of equipment and boats.

·       Operate the tender boat service and the Travel Lift as needed.

·       Conduct regular internal safety audits and checks. Update risk assessments and be part of the Squadron workplace safety committee.

·       Maintain the Boat Yard to safety, security, and cleanliness standards.

·       Create rosters and quotes using club software and provide hands-on training to the team.

·       Conduct ‘tool box’ talks and hands on training to ensure ongoing development of the team.

·       Foster positive relationships and work productively with other RSYS departments to ensure collaboration to deliver successful Waterfront based events.
