The Marina Industries Association (MIA) is seeking an Administration and Communications Assistant to join our small team based in North Sydney.

We are looking for a highly motivated, team player who is eager to learn and develop a variety of new skills that will set you up for future career growth. You will have the opportunity to learn from a highly engaged CEO and experienced Programs Manager.

With a strong resurgence in boating in recent years, this is an exciting time of growth for the marina industries and the MIA, and we are looking for who shares our enthusiasm and energy.

This entry level role will support the entire business and will be responsible for the administrative, support and communications functions. It will suit someone who seeks a fun, small team working environment, wanting to learn and develop a diverse range of business skills.

We will employ attitude over skill.

 The areas of responsibility will be:

  • Servicing of general inquiries
  • Office administration & support
  • Membership administration
  • Daily bookkeeping & invoicing
  • Database management
  • Meeting & event organisation
  • Social Media posting and monitoring
  • Website maintenance and updating
  • Marketing administration
  • Drafting communications

The skills required include:

  • Highly developed and confident verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced written skills.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) & database management
  • Knowledge and experience with the key social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Organisational skills, the ability to set and work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks
  • Website management, marketing, desktop publishing and editorial skills will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in the marine sector and/or an interest in boating would be useful but is not necessary.
